Christmas Fireplace
This tutorial was written using PSP7, but can probably be done in earlier versions with a few adjustments.
** Remember to save your work often! **
1. Open a transparent image 400 x 400. Add a new Raster Layer (all layers will be Raster layers) and name it "fireplace". Load the "jd-fireplace" selection (Selections - Load from Disk). Flood fill with #C00000.
2. Go to Effects - Texture Effects - Texture and use the following settings (the texture on mine is #50 but may be different on yours, but it is the medium brick pattern):
3. Go to Effects - 3D Effects - Inner Bevel and use these settings:
4. Selections - Select None.
5. Add a new layer and name it "top". Load the "jd-fireplacetop" selection and flood fill with the wood pattern included in the zip file (or one of your choice). Add the following Inner Bevel:
6. Selections - Select None. : Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow and use these settings:
Color Black
Opacity 55
Blur 10
Vertical 2
Horizontal 0.
7. Add a new layer and name it "bottom". Load the "jd-fireplacebottom" selection and flood fill with the cement pattern included in the zip file. Add an Inner Bevel using the following settings:
8. Selections - Select None. Add a Drop Shadow with these settings:
Color Black
Opacity 55
Blur 10
Vertical -2
Horizontal 0.
9. Add a new layer and name it "inside". Load the "jd-fireplaceinside" selection and flood fill with Black. Selections - Select None.
10. Add a new layer and name it "sides". Load the "jd-fireplacesides" selection and flood fill with #808080.
11. Go to Effects - Texture Effects - Texture and use the following settings (the texture on mine is #42 but may be different on yours, but it is the large brick pattern):
12. Add a new layer. Open the "jd-firelog" and Edit - Copy. On your fireplace image, Edit - Paste as New Selection. Paste several of the logs until you have a nice little pile.
13. Add a new layer. Choose your Tubes Tool , select the Fire tube that came with PSP and scale it down to 10. Apply several around on the logs to your liking.
From here on it's up to you. You may use the decorations that I've included in the zip file, or use your own. Remember to add a new layer for each so you can move them around. Once you have it the way you want it, hide Layer 1 by clicking on the little glasses on that layer in your Layer Pallette. Go to Layers - Merge - Merge Visible. Unhide Layer 1 and fill with your background.
