Golden Brush Frame
This tutorial was written using PSP7, but can probably be done in earlier versions with a few adjustments.
** Remember to save your work often! **
1. Open the image you wish to frame. If you would like to use this one, right click and save it to your computer. Also open the golden fill.
2. Set your background color to Black and your foreground to texture . Select the golden fill (scale 50% - angle 0).
3. Go to Image - Add - Borders. Make sure Symmetric is checked and 2 is in all of the boxes. Click OK.
4. Using your magic wand , Tolerence and Feather set to 0 and Sample Merged UNchecked, click on the new border. Fill with the golden fill. Go to Selections - Invert. Go to Effects - 3D Effects - Cutout and use these settings:
Color Black
Opacity 65
Blur 20
Vertical and Horizontal 2.
5. Repeat the Cutout but change the Vertical and Horizontal to -2. Selections - Select None. Add a new black border of 3.
6. Reverse your foreground and background colors by clicking the arrow indicated below (it doesn't matter what color your background is now, as long as it is not black).
7. Add a new border of 2. Select the border with the Magic Wand and fill with the golden fill. Selections - Select None.
8. Reverse your colors again so that black is the background color. Add a new black border of 25.
9. Click on your Paint Brush . As shown below, click the paint brush on your Tool Options box, choose "custom" from the drop-down menu and browse to your brushes folder. I am using "cornerbrushes2" but you can use any one that you like. You will need to adjust the size of your brush, depending on the size of your image. Mine is set to 150. Also, on the second tab of your Tool Options box, check the box beside "show brush outlines" so you will be able to see where you are placing your brush.
10. Add a new Raster Layer. You should have the golden fill as your foreground. Place your brush on the black border in the upper left corner, hold your mouse very still and click 3 or 4 times until it is as dark as you want it. See image below:
11. Now go to Layers - Duplicate, then Image - Mirror. Now Layers - Duplicate, then Image - Flip. Now Layers - Duplicate, then Image - Mirror. This will give you a brush in each corner.
12. Layers - Merge - Merge All (Flatten).
13. Reverse your colors again, making sure black is not the background color. Add a new border of 2. Select and fill with the golden fill. Selections - Select None.
14. Reverse your colors and add a black border of 2.
15. Reverse your colors for the last time and add a border of 2. Select and fill with the golden fill. Selections - Select None and your frame is finished. Resize if necessary, but remember to Sharpen (Effects - Sharpen - Sharpen) if you resize.
